8. In The Human Mind

The human brain is an incredible thing, it is capable of so much that even now we don't understand it. After all, it is the only known thing in the universe that named itself. But as much as our mind has helped us ascend to the dominant species of this planet and allowed to advance to much, its not all good. Our minds are a double edged sword, almost as much as it has helped it, one might say that.. Its our greatest hindrance.

We are somewhat thought and expected to be logical in our daily lives, to analyze everything to get to our desired goal. That is the blue print of life, in a modern western capitalist society. On paper and in theory, it works perfectly. But it does not take into account the inherent emotional nature of humans. People need so much more then food, clothing, and a roof over their heads. What our society fails in, is that everybody can thrive in your society, as long as they put some effort. The truth is, we are all different and require various other ways of living.

Technology has evolved to unparalleled levels, our power over this world is almost absolute. But at the same time, humans have barley evolved at all, and the irony of our power... Is that we have almost none over our own minds. The remedy for this, is a balance of critical thought and controlled emotion. The most important of these emotions, is compassion and empathy for each other. For if we do not have each other, we have nothing. We made this world together, not just one person, but all of us. Great minds think alike and for themselves, but never alone.
