60. Review: Jacqueline Dedios Candles And Aromas

 

Intro: Hello, today I’m doing my fourth ever official review and brief small (unofficial) business review. What I’m reviewing are the following.

Business: (No official business name as of this writings. She is still brand new to this, so I will unofficially be referring to her and her products as): Jacqueline Dedios Candles And Aromas. 

Reviewed Fragrance: Eternal Life and Rain Mist Candles with Sandalwood extract drops.

Full Review: When my good friend since high school Jacqueline Dedios messaged me about her new candles and aromas she is selling, I was very curious and started inquiring about them and when she started selling these? She said this is a new hobby that she is getting into for a side gig, and that she wants to help people and allow them to explore the world of healing scents and aromas. I excitedly asked her is this perhaps a new business venture she is starting, and if she had any pages or websites set up? She said not yet, right now she is at the very beginning and is still getting her feet wet.. She is still seeing how things go before she does all that. I totally understand, and saw this as an excellent opportunity to help her out and give her a big boost! I offered her to give me a sample order, so that I can give her back a full on honest review! She wholeheartedly agreed, and got to work preparing my order. We texted and talk on the phone several times, to catch up as well as discuss the scents and candles. I will preface this by staying she let me know that I can call or text her anytime I needed too, I very much appreciated that! One golden rule I have for businesses or those in sales, is the ability to contact them whenever I need too. Those are huge points in my book! 

While we were on the phone, she told me about the vast selection of candles, scents, and oils she has. For someone like me who is totally ignorant in that field, I’m more ashamed to admit I was very confused and didn’t know what to pick. But Jackie was very helpful to help and explain to me how the scents were and which ones to recommend me! We ended up going with Eternal Life and Rain Mist Candles with Sandalwood extract drops. Once we decided on what scents to prepare, she gave me the choice that I could either come pick them up from her at her place(a city over) or at my place.. I was fine with either honestly, but she just said she will come over and drop them off of her own accord. I agreed no problem! So far she was the first person I have ever worked with willing to come drop off to me! Thats major points in my opinion, very few people would be willing to do that! We agreed on a drop off day and got off the phone for the night. 

Much like previous collabs, she is also a busy mother with kids to take care of. Her time is very limited, though she makes do in the later evenings when she is more free. It was in the evening of a specific day that she came over, she had brought a gift bag like kit and a box of all her scents and oils. We were ecstatic to have all finally seen each other face to face after many years! Almost since High School, though I should point out she is a dedicated fan and reader of my blog, winning one of my blog shirts sometime ago! So we definitely kept in touch over the years, she is a great friend! We did allot of catching up, taking pictures, and then she explained to me the directions on how to use them, and when to apply the essential oil. She also made sure to tell me an absolutely essential step, as she is brand new and still learning about these candles and how they work. She told me she learned that you have to let the candles sit for two weeks at least, so they can settle and be more effective. She told me if you use them before two weeks, that the smell wont be strong or potent at all. It absolutely has to settle, she has had a few customers be confused why the scents weren’t strong at all. After doing some research, she learned you have to wait two weeks and she apologized to them and explained the waiting period. I took note and remembered her steps! She is still learning and is an honest mistake, as far as my experience it didn’t inconvenience me at all. After some more quality time together, she left me the bag with the kit in and went on her way. It was now my time to inspect the product. 

I was impressed with how well done and how cute the bag was. The aesthetic and look of it was premium looking and quality! I noticed she tied it with a straw like tie, to secure everything. I probably would have done the same, it’s the going the extra mile that counts in my eyes! I like it! I did see that she stuffed the bag with those shredded board like paper bits to keeps everything from moving and to protect the glass in the bag, also definitely liked that BUT in my opinion there was kinda allot of it, and one wrong move would had it all over the floor and would have been a hassle to clean up all those small paper bits. So I personally would maybe cut the amount of stuffing in the bag by around 50%, I think that will accomplish the same thing without potentially causing a mess. Moving on, I took out the products from the bad, I didn’t expect there to be so much in there! She gave me two candles(the scents I ordered), a bath bomb(I dont have a bath unfortunately), two positive palm energy crystals, and a very potent Sandlewood essential oil dripper.. All packaged in adorable little bags neatly and orderly. Once again.. Going the extra mile, giving extra goodies is universal for a happy customer. Everything looked exquisite, I was eager to try them out.. But as Jackie said I would have to wait two weeks for everything to settle. I put everything safely aside, and the wait was on.. 

Fast Forward two weeks, Jackie calls me up and lets me know the two week wait is up and that I was now free to test out the candles and product! I didn’t know she was keeping count for me haha, the weeks just flew by! That showed me that she was very much on it, more than I even was as I didn’t even know it has been two weeks. Good job Jackie! Now it was time to truly review the products! First we tried the Rain Mist candle(a more feminine scent), when smelling it unlit.. The scent reminds me of shampoo or this those decorative soaps our parents used to have in restrooms in the 80’s and 90’s  nobody was allowed to use haha. In other words, the candle smelled so nice, it had almost like a sweet rose-y cream smell. Then I proceeded to light the candle, it burned very clean and well.. There was no smoke or “burn” smell, which I liked allot. There are small bits of decorative roses on top of the candle.. She warned me that the bigger pieces might burn, but nothing of the sort happened. I observed and kept my nose ready to smell. As the wax melted, I started smelling the scent.. The scent was a very subtle and light smell, not extremely strong smell and eye burning like I feared. It was quite the opposite actually, you got more of a hint of the smell, as opposed to a full on blast of the smell. I was not disappointed, I like subtle. While it would not have hurt for it to have been a little stronger, I always find that overly strong scents or smells really bother me. So you definitely do not have to worry about that with these candles. I was satisfied with the candle, so I blew out the fire and there was minimal smoke there.. Very clean and safe fire wise. 

It was time to try out the second candle. The second candle was called “Eternal Life”(a more masculine scent). I had grabbed the unlit candle and smelled it.. This candle was definitely made for a MAN. The scent reminded me very much of a cologne or deodorant like smell, it smelled really good! It was now time to light the second candle. This candle looked and went almost exactly like the previous one, clean easy fire, no smoke, ash, or burning roses. The scent was once again, a very subtle light smell. As the candle burned, I notice the cologne like fragrance permeate the room. But it was not to an immense or over powering degree, I also like this one allot! As the candle burned, I decided to give the essential oil drops a try! I took it out of the package, and I should point out these have a very powerful potent scent! So I was very conservative with them. I carefully applied a drop to the candle, right in the middle of it. After about 10 seconds, I noticed a light warm Sandlewood aroma around the room. It smelled good and worked well with the Eternal Life candle smell. After sometime, I took some pictures and enjoyed the smell some more before blowing out the candle. Once again, minimum smoke or residue. I was once again satisfied, I took all the last of the pictures I needed and concluded my review. 

Allow me to share some pros and cons:

Pros +

1. Great communication and help from Jackie.

2. Large Selection of scents to pick from.

3. Great aesthetic and cute packaging.

4. Nice subtle smell with clean burning fire.

5. Only $10 for a candle, oil, and other potential goodies. 

Cons -

1. A little too much packing paper inside, a small reduction would be suffice. Really minor issue honestly. 

2. The scent could have been a little stronger, I personally would add some more of the scent liquid in its creation. (but I realize this is all still a work in progress.)

In conclusion, this was yet another successful and fun review! This is my fourth review I have done, and they did an amazing job! All this from a brand new venture, not even an established years long business. I was more than impressed with everything honestly, other than a few critiques and suggestions on efficiency.. Jackie checked all the boxes! You have earned a solid “B+\A” grade (90%) from me! Well done! 

As with previous reviews, I wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Jacqueline Dedios for trusting me to give a fair and concise review of her products! You really went above and beyond, and you showed me truly wonderful customer satisfaction. In my opinion you have so much damn potential, you need only go all in and reach for the stars! I know it’s still super early and you are admittedly working out all the kinks as you go along. But I think you should invest in this whole aroma candle venture and make it a full blown business! With you learning more and more about it daily, getting feedback from people like me, and making all the necessary social medias pages to advertise your brand.. You can truly be a successful business woman! You need only want it and hunger for it enough! Rest assured my own business and I will be there to support you all the way! Just like when you became an official fan and supporter of my blog site! I’m just returning the love, my work and I will always be here for you. I very much look forward to our next review! There are so many more scents for me to try! I can’t wait! Until our next collaboration Jackie!
